Undergraduate Research

Location:Iowa State University
Date: May2010-present

Advisor: Professor Liang, Dong
Research Introduction: My research is about developing micro-nanoscale polymer fibers or spheres for biomedical drug delivery purpose by using electrospinning process. Furthermore, I have developed alignment fibers for chemical engineering professor in cancer cells research studies. There will be a new research studies on energy storage in the future.

Location: Iowa state University
Date: August 2008- August 2009
Advisor: Professor Sumit Chaudhary
Research Introduction: Our research is Solar Photovoltaics(PV) in thin fim solar cells. Our goal is to developed high effiency polymer based solar cells by increasing the absorption spectrum of the solar cells. Besides, we are studying the electrical properties of the bulk heterojunction solar cells using Impedance Spectroscopy to have better understanding of each solar cells which we have fabricated.

Senior Design Projects

Date:August 2009-May2010

This project involves 2 semesters of my school year in Iowa State University and we are still currently doing reserach about this topic. We will create a chameleon roof material by applying a large area of liquid crystal to change the color of the roof due to temperature changes. When the temperature is 40 degress Fahrenheit and below, the chameleon roof will change to dark color to absorb more sunlight and when the temperature is 80 degrees Fahrenheit and above, the roof will change to white color to relect the sunlight. This technology will try to heat the room temperature in the cold weather and avoid heating the room temperature when it is hot. The overall goal of producing these types of panel is to reduce the cost by not using as much BTU's and becoming more energy efficient. This project is an exploratory research and our first phase is to encapsulate the liquid crystal using polymer(PDLA).
